Asterisk 1.6.2.18.1 -- Which version of FreePBX should I use?

I’ve installed Asterisk 1.6.2.18.1 on CentOS from repo and also FreePBX 2.7.0.10. I know that 2.9 is out, but I’m just wondering if that is what I should be using or not. I’m not ready to upgrade Asterisk to 1.8 as I had some issues with 1.8 and rebuilt from the OS up.

Pretty much the answer that I expected, but wanted to make sure that there was no issue running 2.9 with Asterisk 1.6. Not sure why there would be, but since this is a production box I felt I should verify.
