Asterisk 1.4.26.2 Not starting

Hello,
I have a freepbx in a flash set up with Freepbx 2.6 and asterisk 1.4.26.2

problem is asterisk is not starting up…
if you login via ssh it says it is running in the Demon status window,
but under asterisk version running it does not load and phones cannot connect.
However you can connect on the command line using asterisk -r
I have changed the uncommented line in amportal.conf to ZAP2DHADICOMPAT=true
I am a bit confused…
Where do I start troubleshooting this ?

Did you run dahdi_genconf and dahdi_cfg -vv ?

No I did not,
I took the card I had out after it did not work,
would I still need to do this ?
