[Amportal-users] SIP registration timeout with my VOIP provi
I’m running freepbx 2.2.0 in Trixbox and a couple of days ago upgraded
all the modules to their latest current versions. Since then it seems
that my VOIP line will not successfully register. We have two lines,
one PSTN and one VOIP and the dial plan generated by freepbx selects
which one to use based on the number called – basically long distance
calls go out over VOIP and local calls use PSTN. I have made no changes
to the SIP trunk config that is used to connect to our VOIP provider and
using the userid/password/ip-address in the freepbx config and pasting
it into x-lite it connects (send and receive) just fine.

The generated registration string in sip_additional.conf looks fine.
So, what I am wondering is if there is some time-out value somewhere
that has been set very small so that it fails before the SIP
registration can complete? Or are there any other ideas about what I
could do to diagnose this problem.

The asterisk log shows this :

Mar 15 19:46:13 NOTICE[2263] chan_sip.c: – Registration for
[email protected]’ timed out, trying again (Attempt #1)
Mar 15 19:46:13 DEBUG[2263] chan_sip.c: Stopping retransmission on
[email protected]’ of Request 102: Match Found
Mar 15 19:46:13 DEBUG[2263] chan_sip.c: Scheduled a registration timeout
for xx.xx.xxx.xx id #2121
I received some ideas from a couple of very helpful people on the
freepbx irc channel last night. Configuration changes, upgrade to
freepbx 2.2.1, reloading the sip config, restarting amportal and so on,
but nothing seemed to be working. So in desperation I did the Windows
thing and rebooted the machine. Now it all works just fine. I’m still
interested in thoughts about what may have caused this situation so that
I can avoid it or prevent it from happening again in the future.
