[Amportal-users] Multiple Company Shared PBX

Actually you can have more then one company menu’s as for the Digital Reception. And your correct via the GUI you can’t separate or even have 2 different companies in the system with the same extension.  But if you have 2 companies you can create for outbound dialing one route use 8 and one 9 for there own outbound trunks.

You can also setup custom settings in the extensions_custom.conf

I would love to see Freepbx able to use different context for inbound and outbound calls. This I feel is missing. Not only will it aid with multi-company setup it will also aid in setting up phones for can’t dial international calls or can’t dial outside.ÂÂ

I would love for someone to take this on and program it into Freepbx.ÂÂ

What I would love to see is a way to make the IVR more programmable.  This would allow for using the built in asterisk-sounds to get the prompts, etc. to work.  Oh well…

I agree.  There is no limitation in Asterisk that would prevent full multi-company support - just use two separate contexts, with nothing in default except fatal errors.  It would not be impossible to add multicompany support to the gui, but probably very difficult without significant code changes.  It could be that the change to FreePBX has made this easier - I don’t know without looking at the code.

Before we switched to trixbox, I had a vPBX configuration. It worked
very well and kept things well separated.

It didn’t have a GUI, though. I’m very CLI oriented, so the
configuration worked, in ways it was more flexible than freepbx, and in
other ways it was less. And it was in * 1.0, not 1.2…

I’d be happy to give it to the freePBX people (or anyone) if they
thought that groundwork might be helpful…
