Maybe the obvious…

How abut changing kernel? recompiling a kernel should not be that difficult.
Next would be using another glibc, but that is a pain…

I can replicate the problem in lab fairly easy using a box with 2 PRIs
connected together with a cross-over cable.

Using call files I initiates a few hundred calls on 1 PRI, the calls
gets answered on the 2nd PRI and a dialplan simulated a few seconds of
talk and DTMF inputs.

Everything goes fine and no zombie are seen untill I manually place a
call (using a SIP softphone) and then I get 2 zombies per call:

Acording to this mail you are linking to, this is a specific problem for
RH9. I am running the same setups (AMP 1.0.010 and * 1.0.10) and never
found any problems.

The system is Debian sarge with Linux 2.6.12.
