401 from trunk provider when forwarding calls anywhere

Hi, just got FreePBX set up - however, I am unable to forward calls anywhere after the default 15sec ring-off period. My trunk provider returns a 401, even when I am attempting to forward to the extension’s internal voicemail.

Apologies in advance as I’m a complete dunce in the telephony area, and am more used to hosted systems than FreePBX.

How does this relate to an outgoing call? 401 can only be generated for outgoing requests. Unless they authenticate you by IP, any outgoing request, for a new call leg, would be expected to result in a 401 response, as it is a normal part of the authentication protocol.

I would love to know. Unfortunately, my provider is very uncooperative. It appears I’m wasting my time.
