2.10 Upgrade to, PHP5.3

I’m doing a new install on a system using the ISO CD load. Once loaded I was doing updates and I see there’s a 2.10 Upgrade tool. I’ve run the tool and updated all the packages available however some packages error out saying they need php 5.3 I’ve been unsuccessful in figuring out how to do the 5.3 update and because of that, can’t complete the module updates as they’re dependent.

I’m not very good with Linux but did google it and found several places that say how to update php on CentOS however none of them worked. I have wiped the drive and started over so at this point I’m at a new install with nothing set up except the network and admin passwords.

I’ve been running FreePBX for 7 months now, and encountered the same problem today while trying to do some updates.

After using the 2.10 Upgrade tool the System Admin module would not upgrade, with the following message:

System Admin cannot be upgraded:
PHP version 5.3.0 or higher is required, you have 5.1.6
Please try again after the dependencies have been installed.

Trying to use YUM to update CENTOS (and PHP) resulted in:

Error Downloading Packages:
asterisk18-core-1.8.8.0-1_centos5.i386: failure: RPMS/digium/asterisk/1.8/1.8.8.0-1/asterisk18-core-1.8.8.0-1_centos5.i386.rpm from pbx: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

I don’t have a lot of time available today, and so far no quick answers via a Google search.

See: http://www.freepbx.org/forum/freepbx-distro/distro-discussion-help/beta-release-versions. I wonder if your issue might be related to this?

Same issue. Did anyone figure it out?

System Admin cannot be upgraded:
PHP version 5.3.0 or higher is required, you have 5.1.6
PHP Component Zend Guard Loader is required but missing from you PHP installation.
Please try again after the dependencies have been installed.

It turns out that to do the update you have to run a series of scripts instead of doing the update from the GUI. When you run those scripts PHP is updated and it works. There were some other threads on that. Take a peek at this thread http://www.freepbx.org/forum/freepbx-distro/distro-discussion-help/stable-release-versions

hi Jerry
am facing the same issue i was trying to check the link you provided but it is not working anymore :s
can you plz post your solution
Best regards

I just ran the scripts outlined in the other thread, in order. I think the thread may have been pulled because they came up with another solution to the upgrade but as I was already finished, I’m afraid I don’t have details on that. I can only suggest posting a new thread. Sorry.

All the info has been moved to the FreePBX WIki. http://wiki.freepbx.org/display/FD/Updating+FreePBX+Official+Distro
