I’m trying to move from my FreePBX 2.11.0.38 Distro (built on CentOS) with Asterisk Ver. 1.8.18.0 to the new Smooze Distro with Asterisk 11. I build a new 32 bit machine using the ISO and followed the instructions from the Wiki for Upgrade from FreePBX-Distro-1.8xx.210.58 to FreePBX-Distro-2.210.62.
Then I used rsync to move all the monitor files from the old machine to the new one, then again on the Voicemail files as instructed in the Wiki.
I didn’t have any problems until I took the old system off-line and put the new system on-line with the old system’s IP address. When it booted it went to 100% CPU load and has stayed there. Now it’s at 100% on the old IP as well.
I’ve checked the password in the cdr_mysql.conf file and they’re the same.
I installed iSymphonyV3 (because I read in one post that it was needed now) then went into the Asterisk Manager Users and clicked on the cxpanel user, submitted it (with no changes) and reloaded as instructed.
I’m not sure what to try next.

Can you tell why? I don’t recall any custom internal stuff. I think I’d adjusted the buffer size on my old system but that’s all I remember tweaking outside of the GUI.
I thought most of these “errors” simply meant that there was nothing in the custom-conf file so the errors could be ignored. You gave me a hint by saying the error is in the first line but my lack of experience isn’t able to tell what’s wrong. I’m not sure where the internal-custom setting is located so I can’t see what’s in it. Can I get another hint?
Do you know what “top” is? It’s a linux program to see the list of processes. I am not saying look at the top of said files, I am asking if you’ve run the command “top” to see what is taking all of your CPU.
Ah! No. Sorry but I didn’t know what top was. Sorry. I’m still learning.
Below are the first lines from the top command. Are you able to give me direction from what you see here? Thank you for the help you’ve been. I appreciate it.
I got the GUI to work well enough to do module updates. One of them had an effect as the system has settled down to only 6% CPU. Hopefully that means my problem was resolved during one of the updates <whew!>
I did try to run the command line you gave me as it says “cannot execute binary file”. It may not matter however since the system seems to be working now.
I’ll try to do another restore after hours and see if the problem returns then. That’s when it hit me the first time.
I never claimed to be full of knowledge and competence on this. I don’t do this for anyone else, just my own small company. I love FreeePBX. It’s great. And I appreciate ALL the people who support it for even unimportant people like myself.
I’m much more of a Windows guy myself so yes, I’m pretty weak on the Linux side of things, but I’m learning thanks in part to people here.
“top” will now become your best friend. I came from a windows background as well (many moons ago). I always think of “top” similar to “taskmgr” on Windows.
OK, so I’m back in trouble again. The new Distro system was up and running. I did a restore using the migration backup from the old system. So far so good. I shut down the old system and enabled the trunks on the new system. Then I changed the IP in the admin. and rebooted.
When the system rebooted it came up at 100% CPU load. Thinking it might just be a startup sorta thing to rebuild the files or something I let it run for over 10 min. Still at 100%.
At that point I panicked and took the trunks offline again, changed the IP to a new IP and rebooted the “new” system. And I restarted the “old” system then enabled the trunks. The good news is the “old” system is up again and working fine.
The “new” system rebooted to the new IP with all trunks disabled but continues to run at 100% CPU load. The TOP command shows below, which still has SQL slammed at 93% CPU. Something happened when I changed the IP address and rebooted to cause the SQL to go nuts. It’s been 20 min. and still going. What’s gone wrong, and why did it only go wrong after the reboot?
PS. I did a check for module updates after the reboot to see if there were any updates since that’s what seemed to fix it the first time, but there are no updates showing.

At which point I can’t seem to enter anything and close Putty and start over.
First off you are removing the “-p” part of the option on your own accord. If my password was “tango” then the CLI operator would be “-ptango”, if you just typed "-p " then it would prompt you for your password on the next line.
Secondly by not adding the ending ’ you are telling bash you have more commands. You can escape out of that by hitting “ctrl+c”
Thirdly you are already running bash, so basically you ran bash on top of bash. Nothing wrong there just informing you.
Fourthly getting rid of the “#” in your message will remove the header tags (which I already did for you)
Might be good for you to read up on some basic Linux. It would really help.
Ah. I missed that I needed -pPassword instead of -password.
I had the “#” in there to show I was at that prompt. Thank you.
I ran the mysql -u root -e ‘SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST\G’ and two things have happened. First, by CPU is now at 0%. Why? No clue. Will not have an opportunity to make this machine live again today however and not understanding why it was at 100% I don’t know what needs to be done to prevent it from doing that again next time I try.
I notice the log file shows this over and over and over
[2014-10-09 08:32:26] NOTICE[3089] manager.c: 127.0.0.1 tried to authenticate with nonexistent user ‘cxpanel’
[2014-10-09 08:32:26] NOTICE[3089] manager.c: 127.0.0.1 tried to authenticate with nonexistent user ‘cxpanel’
I see in another post someone who had that error as well. Following the suggestion there, I installed iSymphony from the modules list then opened the User Panel and hit Submit without making any entries, then I entered my name and extension and submitted again. When I returned to check the CPU now shows at 0%. Unfortunately it’s not my “live” system currently so I’ve been here before, only to have it go to 100% when making it live.
