OpenVPN Version

HI all

I am currently running FreePBX 2.11 Asterisk 11 and have been having issues with OpenVPN for a few months now.

I have OpenVPN running on FreePBX which was installed through the standard yum repos

I believed I have traced the issue I am having back to a bug in that the iPhone iOS client is causing the OpenVPN server to restart

OpenVPN 2.0.9 is the only version on the Schmooze repo which was from 2010. Would it be possible for the latest rpm to be made available please?

Whoops! I don’t know how that slipped through. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be happy to see this:

Complete!

I believe this thread should be in Commercial or distro, not general (because it isn’t) , no?

It’s not commercial… Um, I guess distro. I’ll move it.

Perhaps not commercial, but surely wrapped up in “sysadmin” here. no?

For the “unsupported by Shmooze guys and gals”, it has always worked fine in linux, you just gotta RTFM.

I’ve ran a yum clean all then yum install openvpn but it’s still saying I have the latest version!

[root@vp ~]# yum install openvpn
Loaded plugins: dellsysid, fastestmirror, kmod
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Setting up Install Process
Package openvpn-2.0.9-1.el6.rf.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

At a guess your distro isn’t up to date. You should be on 12.65

http://wiki.freepbx.org/display/FD/Updating+FreePBX+Official+Distro

I am currently on 2.11 which took a long time to set up for our needs. Having just completed a move from a 300 extension Alcatel based system I’m letting the dust settle before I start fiddling with it again

At the moment ‘it just works’

I’m probably years away before upgrading.

Is there no chance that this could be added to the 2.11 repos?

or would it be possible to manually download the two rpm’s and install manually?

Thanks

No, they’re all in security-fixes-only mode. Sorry.

I’m also worried about how far out of date your system is. I strongly urge you to upgrade your distro (you don’t need to upgrade FreePBX as well, but you should).

Saying that, if you REALLY feel unable to update, you can get it from the standard SHMZ repo, from /etc/yum.repos.d/FreePBX.repo - specifically, Index of /pbx/6.12.65/x86_64/RPMS/openvpn

Thanks

It will be updated but not anytime soon due to other commitments and I would need to run these updates on test machines before I did it live. It’s a pretty major thing to do and with past experience not always flawless
