Shouldn’t the distro have done this?
PHP-MBSTRING isn’t installed.
PHP-MBSTRING is a requirement of PHP SysInfo. System Statistics are disabled until that package is installed.
This can be resolved by installing the ‘php-mbstring’ package on most distributions, and then restarting Apache

The resolution is pointed out within. Install php-mbstring, then restart apache. The distro won’t do it until the next updates for the distro are sent out. Modules can’t install system level packages*.
Until the next upgrade comes out for the distro simply install the package manually. It will take you all of 20 seconds.
Why are they sending out updates the distro can’t handle? Shouldn’t they update the distro before pushing modules that require pieces the distro doesn’t have?
I just checked again and a new distro was released about an hour ago, after I posted my problem. Better late than never I suppose.
Sometimes things happen. That is all I can really say without going into a ton of details. The fact remains that this update was purely cosmetic. If it was something that would have broken your ability to use the system then it would have not been pushed out but because it was visual only it was not pulled back.
Also remember we can only control the FreePBX Distro so any other Distro would have to also have this package installed. It was suppose to be installed all along and it got missed and when a change was made for some localization settings it caused your error.
Can you explain to a non-linux person how to do this?

I had this php-mbstring error too today. Tried to use yum to install and it said it was already installed. Now the message is gone but I have no system stats and “Asterisk Interface Manager (astman) failure.”
Then I tried “yum reinstall php-mbstring” and it reinstalled. Still the same problem. “service httpd restart” doesn’t give any error messages. Everything seems to have blown up today.
Running FreePBX 12.0.45/AsteriskNOW distro.

Worked for me as well except iSymphony, there is no digital signature for this module. What’s up with that?

Because it’s depreciated and conflicts with cxpanel which is the newest version.
I too had to install the php-mbstring manually.
Now my sysadmin module says it is disabled pending an update. When I try to do yum update sysadmin I get:
