Digium Ringtones for different line keys

Asterisk 11
FreePBX 2.11
Digium Addons 2.10

Hello,

I use Digium D40 phones.

For some phones, using the DIGIUM ADDONS in FreePBX, I assign two different extensions.

On the Digium D40 phones, there are two “line keys”.

So each of the two extension is set on one of those line keys, and where there is an incoming call, the right line key flashes, indicating which extension is being called.

I would like to know if it was possible to assign a different ringtone to each of those line keys, or, in other word, a different ringtone to each extension.

THANK YOU!

Howdy,

The phone has an active ringtone that applies for the whole phone for any call that arrives to it.

In order to have a different ringtone for a different line, you’d have to have each call arriving from that line include an Alert-Info message with the other ringtone you want to use (and you’d have to use the Digium Phones addon to apply the alert + tone to the phone, so it knows what to expect).

Alas, I have no idea how to make FreePBX set Alert-Info for all calls to a particular extension.

You could run each extension through a ring group which allows setting alert info…

Hi, I have an idea how to push an alert info.

What I would like to know is how to set up a different ring tone when receiving that alert info.

You referred to using Digium Phones addons to do so but I can’t find where.

Can you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks for your help !!

I moved this thread into the Digium Category since its on their phones.

Do Digium phones respond to commands?

Do Digium phones respond to bellcore-drx commands?

No. The ringtones are .slin files loaded by the user. See https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/DIGIUM/Digium+Phones+when+used+with+the+DPMA#DigiumPhoneswhenusedwiththeDPMA-Ringtones

Howdy,

There’s an overview of the addon, including how to get it, here - https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/DIGIUM/Digium+Phones+and+FreePBX

The bits about ringtones and Alerts are covered here -
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/DIGIUM/Digium+Phones+and+FreePBX#DigiumPhonesandFreePBX-Ringtones

and here -

once you make an Alert, make sure to load it onto the phone using the options on the Phones tab.

Thanks

Hi,

Concerning this message.

I put an “Alert Info” in a ring called “urgent”

Then I go in the DIGIUM PHONE config of FreePBX and into the “Alerts” tab

Then I add an alert using the same “Alert Info” (“urgent”)

I chose “Ringing Type” = “Normal” then I selected a system ringtone.

Then I reconfigured all the phones.

And it won’t work :frowning:

what I am I doing wrong?

You probably don’t want to make an Alert called “Alert Info.”

Also, you’ve got to figure out how you’re actually going to make a call through FreePBX that affects adding the particular Alert Info message to the call before it’s dialed.

The alert info is NOT called alert info, it is called “urgent”

And the alert info is added once someone dials a “feature” in my IVR which leads to a Ring Group, and in the Ring Group config I add the alert info called “urgent”

Then in the DIGIUM tab I added an alert using the same name.

Is there anything wrong in this ?

On the surface, it sounds correct, but I wouldn’t know for sure without looking at all of your configuration files.

Make an alert, add the alert to the phone, figure out how to get the alert-info string called with a Dial (I can’t help with this), profit. That’s the process.

Does your res_digium_phone_devices.conf file show the alert that you made added to the type=phone?
