I found this old closed thread on selecting an Asterisk version. Also this on FreePBX12 and required minimum Asterisk version. I could not find anything more current to decide between Asterisk 12 and 13.
Please point me to guidance on why I should choose Asterisk 11, 12, 13, etc. I’m on FreePBX12.
If you are running a business stay on Asterisk 11. Over at Schmooze, Com we have the office on 11.
I run all of my development servers on 13. We have some machines on 12. But if you want stability choose 11 which is a LTS release. Also 13 is just coming out as beta2
Really the only thing you are missing by not being on 12 or 13 is pjsip and Asterisk Rest Interface, if those are needs for you then go to 12.
CDRs are a mess in 12 and 13. Install and you’ll see why.
Call me old fashioned, but I like 1.8. 1.8 is the most mature version of Asterisk that it still supported, and it works perfectly.
