We have a FreePBX + Asterisk 1.8 setup that has run fine with Cisco 303 IP, 504G, and Polycom IP335 phones. We just got some 8961’s in the other day, and have had a hell of a time trying to get them to work. I used the XML config found at http://fonality.com/trixbox/forums/community-edition/help/need-help-cisco-8961 and the phone finally registered! But, as that post says, I cannot make or receive calls, only get a dial tone. SkyKingOH says he fixed the XML for the member, but I do not see it on that page…SkyKing, if you’re out there, could really use some assistance…for anybody else who could help, the XML file is below with some settings changed…

I dont’t have any of those phones so I must have only helped with syntax.
There are several threads around on Cisco SIP 9. I am fairly sure you have to patch Asterisk to get the BLF’s to work.
I have 8945’s working with freepbx distro if it helps i can post config if you like?

That would be awesome and greatly appreciated…adamcourtney. Was the SEP{mac}.cnf.XML file the only thing that needed tweaking?
pretty much yes, i set the extension to udp only, we got a decent firmware rev (in fact the latest i downloaded yesterday and upgraded the phones they work just fine).
My remaining problems are no transfer button in calls (have to use ## and i’m using combined centos/freepbx build so no source to apply video patch and not sure if needed but video calling not working apart from that, all is good!

Still cannot get these things to make calls. The config you provided ends up with the same functionality as another I was using, except I can occasionally get a “The number you have dialed is not in service.” Can’t dial in to the extension or dial out to another extension or phone number…
I have NAT set to Never, and tried going back and forth between UDP and TCP (both enabled in sip config) but no change in behavior.
Anybody else have success with 8961 on FreePBX/CentOS?
