CID Stupid Question

It has just occurred to me that all docs describe the CID format as using the angled braces or greather than, less than arrows,

XXXXXXXXXX> (Can’t put the front< braces in the examples. Pretend there is one please.)

or

“Blah Bla” XXXXXXXXXX>

I have never used the angled braces and don’t ‘seem’ to have an issue with outgoing CID.

Does it really matter or are the braces truly needed? I can see the need for string quotes, but what problems might be happening down stream?

Thanks!

JJ

the quoted string is CALLERID(name) the bracketed one CALLERID(number) , CALLERID(name) will usually be ignored/overwritten if going to the PSTN world.

an unquoted unbracketed string of numbers will be deemed CALLERID(number)
